Curvature of the earth formulas and calculators:

drop = SQRT(A^2+B^2)-A
where:
"A" is the radius of the earth (in inches)
"B" is the distance (in inches)
you get your result in inches
Or you can do everything in miles, but everything has to be done in the same unit of measurement.
