Well, guys, until we will all get acquainted and are sure that no one gets offended for anything, let us remember our lesson we learned at IFERS.
Better to have too much freedom than turning the forum into IFERS. Let him write pages after pages off-topic. Then he will either get tired, and if he doesn't get tired, he makes friends with us, and then he will allow us to move them to another thread.
For everything else, there is voting. Let's try to not make anyone unhappy. We're only 3 people. For now, if he posts things that bother you or fills up the thread with non-related posts, you could put him in your ignore list, so the posts will disappear.
Then, later, once we are all good friends, it will be easier to reach a compromise.

Andrea and I finished our conversation. No voting necessary, as far as I am concerned. I never vote.
But we can talk about Mark if you want. I have an opinion as well about him although just don't give it too much meaning, it's just an opinion.

There is so much material for making fun of him, and even pointing out contradictions, but I still have a conflict of interest, because he once subscribed to my channel, even for just a week.
Regarding your remark on God, he does not seem to believe that there is a God up there, but other humans, basically. He said it once, and I posted it here, just as I pointed out that he once said he was a Christian, but he clearly has nothing to do with that doctrine.
Also, I can't quote those great clips you posted, because I already have few views and few likes, so it makes no sense to focus and attack specific people, as if I were the opposition to them. I don't feel that I won't make a difference, so it's comical to speak out against them.

I personally don't understand your conflict of interest. But that's fine. This is for future reference for myself and for anyone who happens to want to read about Mark's ideas. Like something found in a search engine.
Video actually makes it hard to find quotes from people. Mark Sargent doesn't write a book defending his model. He uses videos.
I care about what the leaders say as they create the atmosphere of the movement they lead. There are Christian's who follow Mark.
I don't really care very much about FE itself.

Yes, with Mark, I have this problem. He has been nice to me a few times before, and it is not easy being critical of him. Furthermore, we have been in touch a few times, and so it is harder to attack someone you know personally.

How about a compromise and maybe funny video: Have some silly or funny arguments/statements of several vloggers and after every argument/statement you place the voice of Mark saying "Is it proof of a flat earth? One thing I've learned-
You can get away with saying things in video/audio that you couldn'the away with saying in print.
That being said, I already learned long ago, even in print, people can miss controversial things, until you highlight it.
But still, somehow in video, you can say things like, the builder shoots a railgun of iron ore at the earth, and that is what asteroids are.

Yes, the thought about a video compilation of Mark's Mythbusters of Mythbusters comments has come to mind but never too deeply.
My video idea was more focused on something specific.
Speaking of out of context, I have one clip I haven't divulged yet. You guys may not think it's that big of deal, but out of context could be hilarious. Especially with what he says about Patricia above.
By the way, I only have 66 more posts left and then my job is done here.

I'm sorry to hear that you are depressed because you don't get what you want.
It might not cheer you up, though.
Only a few people are lucky that they get loved and hated. Do you want to be like Mark or Patricia?
Flat earth is a niche market. So, maybe you could make videos about other topics as well if being famous and succesful is your goal.

I feel good in the flat earth community. I share most beliefs by the others, so I will try to stay focused on the vlogs. I now added, I would have put this in the post above but things weren't working for me... I asked him if he heard that in the video because I want to know if he actually heard it and thought it was reasonable. I can only guess if he watched the video. How does this sound reasonable to anyone? What is going on???
Ok, he responded~ He uses the term, "programming". Sounds like a "built" enclosed world too. Hearing Mark say that, makes me think I wasted my time even trying to make my argument between knowledge of the genuine and the artificial. His answers like that sound like a joke. No matter if people take all that Mark's says as long as they take in the idea of an artificial system. It's amazing. Atheism has the natural and now Intelligent Design has the artificial. But it was God who creates and bestows the genuine and the real. This is all convuluted. |
